Get to know a little bit more about our Snoqualmie Ice Cream Family each month with these quick personal interviews. This week's spotlight is on our very own, Isaac Lewis.
So how long have you been with the company?
About 8 months, a little before or at the beginning of June, I think.
Why did you apply?
I really just wanted to start making changes for the better and one of the goals I set was getting a job. I thought it would be really cool to be a part of making something so good.
Were you a fan of Snoqualmie Ice Cream before you saw the job posting?
Yeah it all kind of happened at the same time. I tried the lavender and fell in love with it [ice cream]. Then I saw the job on Indeed and I said 'No way, I just tried that ice cream.' Joely e-mails me after and I was like YESSSSS!!! It was really cool, it was probably one of the happiest moments I had.
What do you do here?
I am a production line operator. I could call myself The Cup Whisperer or The Lid Guru, you know, but I guess production line operator sums it up.
What do you love about working here?
It's like a new family. Everybody here cares about each other and cares about what we do to contribute to the main cause. I was just talking to my Uber driver about it. Man, I just love talking about my job. I love everything about it. There's nothing that I really dislike about this job. Except when the machines stop working - that's the only pet peeve of mine. Even then, we figure out how to fix it. But yeah - mainly just the family environment. You don't see that or get that a lot.
So what's your favorite ice cream then?
My favorite one to make is the coconut 'cause that was the first flavor that I made when I started working here. Every time we make it I always think 'Awesome! We're making coconut again.' Taste wise - they're all so good, but probably the Peppermint Stick Gelato would be my favorite because it's a really unique flavor.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to skateboard and I like to make a little bit of music. I want to be able to get into public speaking and help at-risk youth.
Tell me what your life motto is.
Progress before perfection. If I ever find myself getting really distracted by trying to do something so perfect, I just stop and I look at how much progress I made. It makes me aware of all the positive things.
Strangest talent that you have. Go.
Probably making people laugh. I can make somebody laugh or smile in any situation. No matter how stressful the situation i'll still be able to make you giggle and I think that's a pretty strange talent.
Commitment phobias and fear of authority. I'm really hard-headed, and it's probably because I've had to learn so much on my own at a young age, but I'm getting passed it! I'm definitely a lot better than when I started here. I've grown and made a lot of improvements on myself over the last year.
Give me 3 things on your bucket list.
1. I want to go on a hot air balloon
2. I want to play basketball with Obama
3. Travel to at least 30 different countries - even start my own company in a different country.
What's one fun fact about yourself?
I love Snoqualmie Ice Cream. We're all so awesome. I feel like I'm a part of something that's great and there's nothing like it. It's incredible.
