Happy 20th Birthday Snoqualmie Ice Cream!

Today we celebrate 2 decades of Handcrafted Happiness™. Here are 20 fun facts to commemorate these 20 special years :)

  1. Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream was originally located in Lynnwood, WA!
  2. Being proud residents of the Pacific Northwest, the original owners wanted to make the company name very unique and well-associated to Washington. Thus, Snoqualmie Ice Cream came to life.
  3. It wasn't always called Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream. It was once changed to Top Hat for a brief moment and then back to Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream - thank goodness.
  4. Current owners, Barry & Shahnaz Bettinger, bought Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream in 1997.
  5. There were zero employees on staff when Barry & Shahnaz bought the company.
  6. We now have a staff of 15 employees!
  7. Back in 1997, we were only sold in two Larry's Markets and a handful of independent stores.
  8. We are now sold in over 1,000 stores west of the Mississippi River and growing nationally.
  9. The Maltby location was built in 2005. It was the FIRST EVER environmentally-sustainable commercial building in Snohomish County.
  10. There used to be a mini farm on the property! Home to 400 chickens!
  11. The eggs the chickens laid were used in our ice cream - that's about as fresh as it gets.
  12. In 1997 Snoqualmie Ice Cream sold about 3,000 pints for the entire YEAR. We are now producing an average of 25,000 pints per WEEK!
  13. In 2014, we listened to our customers and took soy lecithin and carrageenan out of our pints and replaced it with eggs.
  14. Our conventional line has gone through over 5 rebrands!
  15. Our main production facility is peanut-free!
  16. All the chocolate for our conventional line is imported by Barry Callebaut to ensure it is GMO-Free.
  17. Our soft-serve mix is the exclusive soft-serve ice cream for the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field!
  18. We became USDA-Certified Organic at the end of 2016 - the first super-premium organic ice cream currently to be in the market. EVER.
  19. We also became a Certified B-Corp around the same time - the first Ice Cream Company in the Northwest to become a B-Corp!
  20. Our company dog's name is Lucas; he's half poodle and half schnauzer - a Schnoodle!
